"Feel Good Inc."
Shilp is coding on her computer. She gets a message. Her face goes from neutral to horrified. Caitie walks in and sits behind her, snacking.
Caitie: You look like you’ve seen a ghost.
Shilp: Ummm… the “city’s breaking down.”
Caitie: I thought that was a rumor.
Shilp: The “On a Camel’s Back” theory was right.
Caitie: Wait. Is that the one where they suggested we all “just have to go” as soon as the disaster hits?
Shilp: I mean “they don’t know” know. Do they?
Caitie: This is “whack!” Turn on the outside cameras.
Shilp: I’m nervous to see what’s going on out there.
Shilp turns the screen on and there are lines of people outside the building.
Caitie: “So while [they] fill the streets” and wait to get into this safe house we should eat something.
Shilp: “It’s appealing to see” everyone want to be up here with us. They do know we can’t let them in? It would mess up everything.
Caitie: Let the guards know. Have to make sure “you won’t get undercounted” so they don’t let someone in. They should be making rounds here pretty soon.
Shilp: This is new territory. We’re both “damned and free” in this place.
Caitie: Well we “got a new horizon” once this passes.
Shilp: I can only hope that “it’s ephemeral style.” I don’t do well being cooped up.
Caitie: Long or short, it’s going to be “a melancholy town where we never smile” until it’s over.
Shilp checks her cell phone, waving it in the air trying to find service.
Shilp: Are you getting anything?
Caitie: No. I’d give anything to hear from my family though. Without service “all I wanna hear is the message beep” and their voices on the line.
Shilp: Good luck with that. That’s the substance of “my dreams.” We better start protocol.
