"Mr. Brightside"

"Mr. Brightside"

Drew is outside Jessie's house. He calls her home phone, a landline attached to an answering machine picks up. Jessie is listening and looking out her window as Drew is crunching through leaves and causing a raucous outside.

Message Machine: Please leave a message after the beep. *beep*

Drew: Jessie! It's me, Drew. I wanted to let you know that "I'm coming out my cage" and I've been on some dates with some great gals "and I've been doing just fine." You are missing out. You missed out on the best. That is me. And I "gotta" (hiccups) "gotta be down because I want it all.” That includes you. I can't stop thinking about you. You are all I think about. I mean "it started out with a kiss" and that was great but she wasn't you and I told her that and I mean Jess, "how did it end up like this?" How did I end up like this when "it was only a kiss."

(emphatically) "It was only a kiss!"

I'm sorry. I shouldn't be yelling at you. I just miss you. It feels like "now I'm falling asleep" and the nice lady over there, your neighbor, "she's calling a cab" for me and her fiancé "he's having a smoke" and you'd never guess but now "she's taking a drag." You lose that bet we made about your neighbors. You lose.

Oh no. Well "now they're going to bed" and I don't feel so hot. "My stomach is sick" and I think I am going to throw up over here… in these bushes… but it's probably "all in my head…"

Jessie picks up the phone.

Jessie: Drew. Are you kidding me? How drunk are you? We've been done for months. Go home.
