"Waterbound"
Two friends hanging out anywhere in Austin, Tx.
Friend **: You have to be more careful!
Friend &&: What?! "I went out late one night" that's all I said.
Friend **: You didn't tell any of us. You just disappeared for 16 hours. Again.
Friend &&: It was fine. It was beautiful. "The moon and stars were shining bright."
Friend **: That's fine. That sounds great. But we all worry about you.
Friend &&: We're here together. Let's just enjoy ourselves.
Friend **: Did you get stuck in any part of the storm?
Friend &&: No. I was out of town. What happened?
Friend **: "Storm [came] up" and took everyone by surprise. It seems nonsensical. It seemed like it wouldn't be that bad.
Friend &&: It's a mess out there. I've never seen it like this with all "the trees come down" like that.
Friend **: Time to "tell [the] boys" to figure out how to clean up the lawn. The worst of it was feeling that "I was waterbound."
Friend &&: What do you mean? It was practically a snowpocalypse.
Friend **: Dramatic!
Friend &&: Not really. It shut down the city and then some. I was "waterbound on a stranger's shore." That's what it felt like. I just moved to this city and it shuts down like it's never been cold. Not being able to leave for days straight. Not knowing this was going to happen until it was practically here. It was tough.
Friend **: It's not great. Does seem to be a pattern. What we need next is rain, get rid of the drought - get the "river rising" again. Some warm rain would be nice.
Friend &&: Oh my friends had a first floor apartment in one of those flood zones. A few years back everything closed around her for days. Maybe a week. She was stranded.
Friend **: I hope she moved after that.
Friend &&: Can't. It's unaffordable. It's all unaffordable.
Friend **: We live in such a weird time. It's like we've gone back to times where we would've "carried [our] home" on our backs and ended up in "the field below" and then somewhere else the next day. Moving day by day.
Friend &&: Well for now we're all "waterbound" with "nowhere to go."
