"Oh My My"
Sal has been waiting on Evie's stoop for a few hours. He's leaning back against the steps when he sees Evie and smiles. Evie is surprised when she notices Sal.
Evie: Sal?
Sal: Hey.
Evie: Have you been there long?
Sal: It's an embarrassing amount of time. I was just about to head home. Hey - "you wear black hair" now. It was purple a couple weeks back.
Evie: "I [had] blue" but yeah, I wanted a change. It's been a week.
Sal: It looks good. How come "you look sadder" than when I saw you last.
Evie: (shrugs) I look sadder "than most girls do" most of the time. That's nothing new.
Sal: Well I like seeing you walk toward me. My heart skipped… "the way you walk around" corners and come into a space. It's beautiful. I mean you're beautiful.
Evie: I don't get it. I'm "always watching the ground." Trying to stay out of the way.
Sal: "Well I like watching you."
Evie: Thanks?
Sal: Don't tell your friend about this.
Evie: Why not?
Sal: Because "your friends they don't like me."
Evie: They're okay with you. They should be nicer. They're always skeptical of who I bring around. "I think they're jealous."
Sal: Of what? "Of my tattoos?"
Evie: No. That you're so kind to me. That you don't go away just because I get mad at you. That you treat me better than anyone else ever has. They think it's an act. That you'll turn into someone else once you get me or whatever.
Sal: "I'm not a bad guy."
Evie: I know that. You also wear a lot of black.
Sal: I "just like wearing black" and "I'm not scared of anything." Well that's not true.
Evie: What are you so afraid of Sal?
Sal: I'm not afraid of anything, "but saying this to you." I love you.
