"There's Never Enough Time"

It’s been 202 Original Earth Years. Pierre is excited and standing in the middle of his room. There’s a bright, blinding light and there’s only a silhouette of Pierre. There’s a low whir that gradually gets louder.

Pierre: This is it. The puzzle has been cracked. We kept at it. “In due time.” Let’s see what happens. “We’ll finally see” if I make it back to Earth in one piece. This is amazing, no words describe this. “There’s barely time” for me to gather myself let alone “for us” to appreciate this and to breathe.”

Hologram Woman: (voice over) Stay calm. We can’t have you moving from where you are. Just stay put. I know you’re excited, but “in due time” you’ll be out of here. I’m sad that we won’t be talking everyday, but they’ll retire me. You and I have done something amazing. It’s this discovery that “we’ll finally see” all universes and Earths working in ways a lot of them never thought possible. This is incredible. “There’s barely time” so I want to tell you I care for you and am so happy that I got to do this for my life and after life’s work. Be safe, I hope you find your love or something like it again. While it’s the end “for us” you need to remember something. You need to remember “to breathe.”

Pierre: (yelling) “In due time” I will be back. On my Earth. This is happening. “We’ll finally see” what happens to me. To this body. To this life. There’s no place like hooooommmmmeeeeeee. I feel the world vibrating beneath my feet. “There’s barely time” to comprehend this feeling, this sensation. This is “for us!” Thank you! I won’t forget “to breathe.”

The light gets extremely bright (along with the noise) and then everything goes out, pitch black and silent. Pierre is gone.
