"Fake You Out"
Dallas and Trey have been hanging out all day and are sitting in a car eating fast food. They didn’t know each other before they met the night before at a mutual friend’s party.
Dallas: What is it that you really want?
Trey: “I want to drive away.” I want to leave “in the night” and become someone else entirely.
Dallas: What’s wrong with who you are?
Trey: I mean nothing. I’ve been a bully to some and a saint to others. Really it’s that the “headlights call my name.” Just heading out on the open road with no one to stop me. I’ve been in investments for about 5 years now and it’s not me.
Dallas: You’re amazing. You’re so good at what you do. I mean I get that it’s not perfect or that the job may not be forever, but you shouldn’t just drive off into the night because you’re stressed.
Trey: “I’ll never be” content for one. I’ll never “be what you see inside” of me. We’ve only known one another for a day. You’re like too nice to me.
Dallas: But you’re one of those people that you want to know. You’re not alone in this journey of life. So many people are here to support you. Like all those peeps from the party. You were quite the attraction last night.
Trey: That always happens. “You say I’m not alone,” but I can’t agree. I have money and people like to hang out with me because of that. “I am petrified.” You’re cool though. I like hanging with you.
Dallas: It’s been fun. Also, I’m hoping this is just the beginning of our friendship. Not the end. Not even close!
Trey: “You are close” to being my only friend. I’ll give you that.
Dallas: How “close [is] the closest star?” I’m probably that close…
Trey: Ehhhh, you’re a little closer than that.
Dallas: As the day has worn on… (quickly) honestly, “you just feel twice as far.”
Trey: You’re easy to open up to. And I have a lot of deep, dark secrets. Now you’re finding out about them.
Dallas: Well I’ll keep working on you.
Trey: “And I’ll fall down and I’ll break down.”
Dallas: “And I’ll fake you out” and you’ll be all right on the other side. “All I wanna” do is make you realize how awesome you are. It’s been a day and I already know.
Trey: Don’t say that! “I’m so afraid of what you have to say.”
