"Record Player"

Ella is on the phone. She's holding a huge beach bag that is making her slump.

Ella: I'm in the elevator. No. the. elevator. I'll see you in a second. No. One. Minute. I. am. hanging. up. now.

Elevator dings. Ella gets off and spots Jasmine in the hotel lobby.

Jasmine: There you are.

Ella: I said I was in the elevator.

Jasmine: (shrugging) It was cutting out. (pointing) What's in there?

Ella: "I've got a record player" with me.

Jasmine looks concerned.

Ella: You know the one. "That was made in 2014."

Jasmine: To the beach?

Ella: Why not? This beach has tables. It'll be cool. Trust me.

Jasmine: Fingers crossed we a table. You know what this reminds me of?

Ella: When I "dyed my hair blue" and "it came out a seasick sort of green." 

Jasmine: Yes! 

Ella: We've been friends for a really long time. Ever since I wore those vintage dresses practically everyday. 

Jasmine: I am a little glad you grew out of that phase.

Ella: What? "I like vintage dresses when they fall just below my knees." I'm going to have to go vintage shopping and get a new one. Want to go next week? 

Jasmine: As long as we don't go climbing trees again. I couldn't do it then and I can't do it now. 

Ella: What you don't know is that I used to "pretend I scraped 'em climbing in the trees." My knees.

Jasmine: That was way before 2014. 

Ella: Only a few years before. 2014 was the year of that paranoid friend who liked you and was borderline stalking. 

Jasmine: I had totally forgot. What was with that catchphrase?

Ella: (moving and talking like a robot) "'I'm in a simulator, I'm doing A-okay.'"

Jasmine: Oomph. I would not go back to that time. 

Ella: Growing up has its perks. Only downside is that "every day is just rewind and replay."

Jasmine: "Not today!"

Ella: Are we getting out of here? "I'll head out to Monterey" with or without you.

Ella and Jasmine head out.
