"Creatures in Heaven"

Jazz is washing dishes. Derrick comes up behind her and gives her a sweet hug.

Derrick: Everything okay?

Jazz: Yeah. Go back to sleep. 

Derrick: You know "it's three in the morning?"

Jazz: I know. I couldn't sleep. I needed to do something and the dishes needed doing. 

Derrick: You don't have to do dishes when you're over here. You can just "be in the moment."

Jazz finishes the dish she is on, turns off the faucet, and turns to face Derrick. They embrace.

Jazz: Like this? "Here in the moment?"

Derrick: You feel it?

Jazz: I do. I feel "free in the moment." You make me feel.

Derrick: Why don't you come back to bed with me?

Jazz: There are too many thoughts. The thing that happened with your sister's friend. "It tears through my head. Does it haunt you too?"

Derrick: Not really. It sucks that she is getting divorced but I don't think anyone thought that was going to last. 

Jazz: Were you at that wedding?

Derrick: No but I'd been to brunch with them a couple of times. He was always quote-unquote joking but said really mean shit to her. 

Jazz: I'll do the dishes and then I'll come back. You sleep.

Jazz turns toward the sink and continues the dishes. 

Derrick: I'll hang out with you. What's an awesome thing that happened to you?

Jazz: When I was a kid I had this llama stuffed animal called "Diamonds." Diamonds would lead me around "in the dark." 

Derrick: Where were you going? 

Jazz: Sleep walking.

Derrick: "In your old bedroom?"

Jazz: Everywhere. I would walk around the house with this llama. 

Derrick: Never got hurt?

Jazz: Because Diamonds protected me. What about you?

Derrick: When "you held me" the other day.

Jazz: Come on, that's the most awesome thing that's happened to you?

Derrick: It's one of them. "Like my mother" would always say, it's supposed to be so natural. You and me, it's real. 

Jazz: It does seem like something "made me just for you" and vice versa. 

Derrick: You found me when I was giving up. Then "you held me so close that" it was game over, I don't need anything else. 

Jazz: I feel like "I broke in two" when I met you. You could hurt me so easily and I'm fine with it. 

Derrick: "It tears through my head" that exact thought. 

Jazz: "Does it haunt you too??" I'm kind of glad.

Derrick turns Jazz around.

Derrick: Listen, "never really said that I loved you too."

They embrace.
