"On Top of the World"
Eryk is a gentleman in his early 40s. He’s about to be arrested for insider trading.
Eryk: This can’t be happening. It can’t be happening. They told me I’d be fine. That what I was doing wasn’t going to hurt anyone. “I’ve tried to cut these corners” so that I could use the money now. I didn’t want to work hard. I tried “to take the easy way out.” Everyone does. It’s fine.
It makes so much sense that it would happen to me. Not any of the other guys. We did all of this together. “I kept on falling short of something” and that something is ratting out the others. I wonder how much time Tony got.
I had my time. “I coulda gave up then, but” I’m not a rat. We had a pact. I coulda gave up, but “then again I couldn’t have ‘cause” I’m better than that. How am I going to get out of this? I already called my lawyer. Have to be prepared.
If someone had told me this is where I would end up, I wouldn’t believe ‘em. I’ve been around the world and “traveled all this way for something.” That something is going be jail now if I can’t get off with probation. My lawyer could do that. I’ll “take it in, but” won’t “look down.” Confidently, I am confident. I’ll stroll in and be fine “‘cause I’m on top of the world.”
