"This Will Be Our Year"

Two friends, Em and Bee, are at Time Square the morning of New Year’s Day. There are still party hats and relevant litter that has yet to be cleared.

Em: Can't believe we made it come true!

Bee: New York City. You and Me. It's been…

Em: 10 years since we said we were coming on this trip.. 

Bee: Looks like "this will be our year."

Em: Finally! "Took a long time to come."

Bee: There's a lot more we can do. What's one thing you really want for this year?

Em starts to shake, with her eyes closed she grabs for Bee who catches her until the bout passes.

Em: "Don't let go of my hand" yet.

Bee: I never do. How are you doing? It seemed less intense than yesterday.

Em: "Now darkness has gone." It seems to go away faster. I should be fine now. You were saying something about "this will be our year."

Bee: Yes, that it "took a long time to come." That we can travel to places we've dreamed of. That your trial medication seems to be helping. It's overall looking great.

Em: What about you though. What do you want from this year?

Bee: I want to do something I've been passionate about. Actually share it with the world. Maybe I can entertain at some open mic.

Em: You should! You know I'm coming to that, seeing you do small coffeeshop performances before touring the world.

Bee: "And I won't forget the way you helped me up." I'll put it in the rider that you have to have backstage access at every show. Get some M&Ms in the greenroom. 

Em: So I'm your official groupie?

Bee: The one and only. 

Em: "When I was down" last year this was my birthday wish.

Bee: Stop!

Em: For real. That you would start to follow your wants and not just help me out when I'm having spells. I mean obviously "I won't forget the way you said" you would always be there for me and because we're best friends you won't let me down. But Bee. For real, maybe you should let me down a little and go do the things you want and need in this year. I'm going to support you the same you support me. We're besties.
