"I Will Follow You"
Jackie is at the train station, sitting on a bench, waiting. It's been hours and she can't reach James. She's tired and about to give up.
Jackie: How do I tell you? How could I possibly tell you? You're about to marry her. You've told me you love her and don't know what you'd do without her. How am I supposed to compete with that?
(pauses) You don't understand. You never will understand that "I will follow you" anywhere, everywhere. It wasn't supposed to be this way. I was in that relationship and you weren't and now that I can finally tell you… You're getting married.
(pauses) "Ever since you touched my hand, I knew" you were for me. We were just too young and stupid back then. Then we were best friends too afraid to mess it up. I've called you so many times today that you probably assume someone died. It's too late for us.
A train approaches the station. Jackie is forlorn and not paying attention. James approaches and quietly sits next to Jackie.
James: You know I have to be "near you" to really feel alive.
Jackie looks up delighted and then becomes skeptical.
Jackie: Your wedding?
James: That's not happening.
Jackie: You love her.
James: I love you more. "I always must be" and it drives me crazy but I can’t stop thinking about you. Thinking about what you're doing, that the little doodad I saw you would like, that I wanted to tell you the stupid joke I heard on the train. Everything I do relates to you. It always has and I want it to. "Nothing can keep you from me" this time. Tell me you feel the same?
Jackie takes James’ hand.
Jackie: "You are my destiny. I love you" too.
